Why foster in Bristol

Fostering is a life-changing journey, for both the children and the carers.

In Bristol, we're proud to support a community of foster carers who provide safe, nurturing homes for our children and young people when they need them the most.

What fostering is

Fostering is looking after someone else's child for as long as needed when their own parents and wider family cannot. Foster carers provide more than just a place to stay: they help children feel secure, valued and supported. Every young person deserves the chance to grow up in a loving and stable home. This is where foster carers make a real difference.

Fostering with Bristol is hugely rewarding and helps keep children close to their family, community, schools and friends.

What we look for in our foster carers

  • We celebrate all types of foster carers from all backgrounds.
  • We welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of race or religion.
  • We're looking for foster carers all over Bristol.
  • You don't need to be married, own your own home or have any qualifications.
  • You can foster if you're over 21 and have a spare room in your home, unless you're a baby only carer.
  • There's no upper age limit to be a foster carer, as long as you're active and in good health.

If you can provide a safe and welcoming home, have compassion, kindness, and a sense of humour, you have what it takes to foster!
